6.4.3
Resource Pooling
The entire provider’s computing power lies within a pool, which is being used to
serve an undefined number of consumers. A multi-tenant model with different
physical and virtual resources dynamically adapts to the user’s and the company’s
unique demand. The consumer usually has no control or knowledge over the
location of the provided services but may be able to specify location at a higher level
of abstraction (e.g. country). Resource Pooling includes for example memory,
network bandwidth or storage (Mell & Grance, 2011, p. 6) & (Weippl, 2012, p. 16).

Multi-Tenant model
According to Aulbach & Jacobs (2007) three multi-tenancy models have been
discovered: shared hardware, shared process and shared table. Especially the
shared process model is applied in numerous database systems for cloud services,
where the resource handling happens on the server provider level.

Shared Hardware
The common ground for tenants’ databases in the shared hardware model are
shared hardware resources. Virtual Machines, which offer the possibility to access
for example operating systems or software on a distant server, are used to host
